This post is all about the essentials you need for your first apartment.
I'm finally back from my travels and moving out of my parents' house and into my first apartment - my parents might be more excited than I am! As I manifest the perfect space and hunt for listings, I'm already planning out all the details to create my dream first apartment aesthetic. Obviously this means that I've started a Notion database to keep track of all the decor ideas and essentials I’ll need to make it feel like home! I figured I would put together a first apartment checklist with all my ideas.
First Apartment Essentials to Add to Your Checklist
1. Mrs. Meyers Cleaning Spray
Mrs Meyers has the yummiest smelling cleaning supplied and nobody can convince me otherwise. The packaging is cute too, and it's better for the environment.
2. Bodum Kettle
There are so many kettles to choose from, but I find the cork on this adds a nice natural element to a kitchen with so much stone, steel and hard edges.
3. Thick Wooden Cutting Board
Something about a nice cutting board makes me excited to cook. If you get one as stunning as this, it's also a statement piece for your counter!
4. Dish Brush
I love the earthy feel of these more natural dish brushes. Extra cleaning heads are included too!
5. Scrub Daddy
I have been absolutely sold on these after watching so much cleantok. I you haven't discovered cleantok yet, run over there asap because it's the most satisfying thing you'll watch.
6. Immersion Blender
Soup season anyone?? An immersion blender is an absolute essential for any apartment. All those cozy fall meals are just waiting for you.
7. Knife Set
You won't need any other knife when you get this! Everything you could possibly need in one set. This brand has a variety of options and ranges from premium to lower end, but their products have been great when I've gotten the chance to use them.
8. Vacuum
The Shark cordless stick vacuum is one I have heard great things about. I know myself and unless it's easy to clean, I won't. This vacuum seems small and light enough to not be a hassle to keep spaces looking fresh!
9. Cutlery Set
This hammered set adds some more dimension and texture than a bland set. It all depends on how it feels in the hand so the jury is still out on that one!
10. Hand Towels
It's so key that your hand towels are absorbent, so something like these 100% cotton hand towels are a perfect addition to your first apartment. They also come in a big enough set, that you can always have some rotated while others are in the wash.
11. Night stands
I have been so into rattan lately. These night stands are nice and neutral, but have some texture to keep it from being boring. They're also not too wide, so they'll fit well in smaller bedrooms!
